Scheduled power outage on Saturday

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. announced yesterday a scheduled power interruption this Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, from 7:30am to 11:30am.

The purpose of the interruption is to de-energize primary power lines for the safety of the CUC line crew as they relocate three main primary power poles.

Areas to be affected include the southern side of Susupe (Juan Nong St., San Isidro Av., Hamalap Ln., Brigida St., Barbara Av., Carmen Av., Chalan Kanoa Dr., Abraham Pl., Kotdet Pl.), Mt. Carmel Cathedral and school, and the Saipan Community Church and school.

The traffic light in Susupe near the Cathedral will be affected, as well as the wastewater lift stations A-2, A-5, A-9.

Water services may be affected in these areas during the power interruption; however, all services should be restored after the power is re-energized.

Because of the scale of the work that will be performed, CUC urges travelers to take alternative routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.(CUC)
