Batang, Camor win in Civic Center caging

Batang and Camor recorded contrasting victories in the 2018 Civic Center Inter-Color Basketball League last Saturday at the Civic Center court.

Batang played in the first game and topped Geotesting, 58-46, while Camor dominated Hong Ye in the second match, 70-54.

Behind after the first half, 19-26, after making only one field goal in the second quarter, Batang rallied in the third and kept going in the fourth to earn the 12-point win. Vandam Acosta and Arman Daluyan teamed up in Batang’s second-half recovery with the former scoring 10 points and the latter registering 8.

Acosta and Daluyan had two field goals each in the third period, while Aiken Ege scored 5 points, helping Batang grab the lead, 38-32. Earlier in the first canto, Ege drilled 10 points to hand Batang a 17-10 advantage before his team had a meltdown in the second, allowing Geotesting to take the driver’s seat at break.

However, when the game resumed, it was Geotesting’s time to struggle, as it was limited to 8 points in the third period, while Batang picked up its scoring and remained on target in the final canto for the double-digit winning margin.

Ege finished with a game high 17 points for Batang, while Sam Darag led Geotesting with his 15 markers.

In the second game, Dixon Kwon and Prince Factor towed Camor to another victory. Camor led right from the get-go with the two former Marianas High School standouts delivering the goods and drawing enough support from their teammates.

In other results last week, IT&E downed RNV Construction, 76-70 and Alamo edged Geotesting, 67-63.

Freddie Pelisamen lifted Alamo to the 4-point win, as he exploded for 27 points after missing the first quarter of the match. He and Syl Teregeyo teamed up in foiling Geotesting’s rally in the fourth quarter. Pelisamen scored 11 points in the final canto, while Teregeyo had 7 of his 13 markers in that period.

In the IT&E-RNV game, the former pulled off a come-from-behind win after firing 30 points in the fourth canto.

The final frame started with IT&E facing a 46-54 deficit. IT&E then mounted a comeback when Ivan Devero, Brendon Talania, Nate Mateo, James Dela Cruz, and Terrence Leung joined forces in the fourth period. Devero scored 10 of his 28 points in the finale, Mateo added 6, Talania made 5, and Dela Cruz and Leung chipped in 4 each.

RNV, which led by 21 at the break, 47-26, collapsed, as it had no player hitting more than one field goal in each of the last two quarters. Ronald Rueda had 25 points for RNV, but was limited to 4 points and one field goal in the entire second half.
