4 bills become law

On April 7, 2018, four bills were enacted into law:

• Senate Bill 20-86, SD1 renames the Tinian port and harbor as the “Honorable Jose Pangelinan San Nicolas Commercial Port of Tinian.” Offered by Sens. Jude U. Hofschneider, Francisco Q. Cruz, and Francisco M. Borja, the bill is now Public Law 20-50. 

• House Bill 20-83, SS1 enables the Marianas Visitors Authority to strengthen qualifications for tour guides and operators and enacts enforcement authority on noncompliant tour guides, tour operators, or tourist land/sea transport operators. Authored by Rep. Angel A. Demapan, this bill is now Public Law 20-51. 

• House Bill 20-53 establishes and defines the authority of the Department of Public Works to promulgate rules and regulations within the Rights of Way. Authored by Rep. Blas Jonathan “BJ” T. Attao, this bill is now Public Law 20-52. 

• House Bill 20-128 establishes separate marriage license fees for residents and nonresidents. Authored by Rep. Joseph Lee Pan T. Guerrero, this bill is now Public Law 20-53. (PR)
