Bordallo accepting submissions for Congressional Art Competition

HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) and the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency recently announced the start of the annual 2018 Congressional Art Competition. The Congressional Art Competition is a nation-wide annual high school arts competition sponsored by the Congressional Institute and Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. 650,000 high school students have participated since the competition began in 1982.

Bordallo invites all Guam high school students to participate in the competition. Each school may submit individual entries of up to 20 students for the local competition. All pieces must be original and not submitted in prior Congressional Art Competitions. All entries must be accompanied by the Student Information/Release Form with the required signatures. All entries must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 to the Guam Congressional District Office, located in the Capitol Plaza Building, 120 Father Duenas Avenue, Suite 107 in Hagåtña.

All artwork submitted will be judged by a panel of local artists. Artwork will be displayed in a local show on island and the winner will have his or her artwork displayed for an eleven month exhibit in the Cannon tunnel that leads to the U.S. Capitol Building. The winning artist will also travel to Washington, D.C. to attend the official reception for the Congressional Art Competition.
