MINA receives over $1K from Celebrity Bagging
Bridge Capital LLC successfully distributed over 1,000 reusable bags during its first Celebrity Bagging event last Saturday.
Bridge Capital partnered with Joeten Enterprises and Micronesian Islands Nature Alliance last Saturday to lessen the usage of plastic bags across the CNMI. For every reusable bag distributed at Joeten Susupe or Joeten Garapan, Bridge Capital donated $1.
Last Wednesday, Bridge Capital donated a total of $1,125 to MINA for the 1,125 reusable bags that were distributed at the Joeten Susupe and Joeten Garapan combined.
According to Bridge Capital chief operations officer Tucker Baldwin, their first Celebrity Bagging was a massive success.
Bridge Capital has already ordered another batch of reusable shopping bags because they intend to partner up with Joeten Enterprises and MINA to host another Celebrity Bagging event, if permitted, this year.
The next Celebrity Bagging date is to be announced.
Baldwin said that he was so pleased with the amount of support the community showed for their first Celebrity Bagging and hopes that they continue to support the cause.
Baldwin said that he is also extremely thankful for the celebrities who participated in the Celebrity Bagging and for the role they played in making the event an enjoyable and memorable one.
The concept of Celebrity Bagging was for community celebrities like government officials, leaders in private agencies, and community role models to come out for one hour and bag groceries while they spread awareness of the benefits of reducing the use of plastic bags.
Celebrities who volunteered their time during the Celebrity Bagging event last Saturday were CNMI lawmakers, public figures, private company leaders, groups from government agencies, and active community members.
The Celebrity Bagging event is put on every year to discourage the use of plastic bags. Every shopper is given a free reusable bag with every purchase that they can reuse during Taya Plastic Tuesdays, or they can completely substitute the bags for plastic bags.
