NMA seeks nomination for coaching certification course
Northern Marianas Athletics is encouraging interested individuals to join the Coaches Education and Certification System L1 Lecturers Course that will take place simultaneously with Saipan’s hosting of the 2018 Oceania Micronesia Regional Championships in June.
Oceania Athletics Association regional development manager Regan Kama, in a letter sent to NMA president Ramon A. Tebuteb, said member federations need to nominate a candidate, who must be approved by the International Association of Athletics Federations before he or she is included in the class.
“This is an opportunity for current lecturers to be refreshed with the new IAAF curriculum. If you have more than one candidate, please send [their nomination] for the IAAF and OAA consideration,” Kama said.
The lecturers’ course will take place from June 11 to 15. Off-island coaches who will attend the course are expected to arrive on Saipan on June 10.
The candidate—aside from being highly proficient in speaking and writing in English—must have a minimum coaching accreditation of IAAF CECS Level I/II or its equivalent, an active coach, willing to work anytime if needed by their federation, and demonstrate teaching skills and experience.
Tebuteb is encouraging those who are in the Public School System, especially on Tinian and Rota, to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their names for nomination.
The deadline for nomination is set on April 30.
