Ex-shift manager agrees to dismiss suit vs Imperial Pacific

A former shift manager at the Best Sunshine live casino has agreed to dismiss her discrimination lawsuit in federal court against Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC and Imperial Pacific International Holdings Ltd.

Rovie Anne Chopitea, through counsel Daniel T. Guidotti, and Imperial Pacific, through counsel Kelley M. Butcher, filed yesterday a stipulation to dismiss the case with prejudice.

Dismiss with prejudice means Chopitea can no longer re-file the lawsuit.

Guidotti and Butcher did not indicate the reason/s in their stipulation as to why they want to dismiss the case.

Asked by Saipan Tribune yesterday if the parties have settled, Guidotti said he has no comment.

As of press time, Saipan Tribune was still waiting comments from Butcher.

The parties held a settlement conference before U.S. District Court for the NMI Magistrate Judge Heather L. Kennedy last Thursday.

Chopitea filed the lawsuit last October against Imperial Pacific for discrimination under Title VII, retaliation, and violation of Equal Pay Act.

Chopitea asked the court to hold Imperial Pacific International liable for her back pay with prejudgment interest, compensation, damages, court costs, and attorney’s fees.

Imperial Pacific has denied the allegations.
