SNILD confirms 2 to Zoning Board
The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation confirmed two reappointments to the Commonwealth Zoning Board, one of which is currently serving as the chair.
Juan Diego Blanco and Joe Ayuyu Jr. were confirmed during a delegation session last week as Gov. Ralph DLG Torres last Feb. 26 and 28 reappointed the two to the zoning board.
Blanco would be serving his fifth term for the board, while Ayuyu is serving his second term.
Blanco is also the chairman of the Zoning board.
According to delegation chair Rep. John Paul Sablan (R-Saipan), the delegation Judiciary and Governmental Operations committee chair Rep. Ivan A. Blanco (R-Saipan) was in conflict as Diego Blanco was his father. Because of this conflict, delegation JGO vice chair Rep. Angel A. Demapan (R-Saipan) was given the authority over the committee.
“The [delegation JGO committee] conducted a public hearing and questions…were allowed [to be made]. There was overwhelming support for the [reappointment] of both appointees,” Sablan said.
He added that according to the committee report on the JGO led by Demapan, they did not see any reason to deny the appointment.
“…The delegation went ahead and approved the work of the JGO committee,” said Sablan.
