KCHC receives 3-year grant extension
Kagman Community Health Center’s federal grant has been extended, according to its executive director Vince Castro.
The grant extends the community health center program for three years with funding of just over $1 million annually.
The clinic’s commitment to serving all of the people of the CNMI remains its highest priority. For the first time in five years, the clinic has been awarded this funding for the KCHC board of directors to operate independently.
The KCHC board and staff would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped throughout the evolution of the clinic; from the earliest stages of its planning up to the current state of operations. In particular, the administration of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Board of Directors, especially CEO Esther Muña and the rest of the CHCC team, deserve recognition. Without their support, KCHC would not have been able to provide the much-needed health care services to our service area and the greater CNMI community.
The grant extension and change in administration positions KCHC to take a more active role as it works to overcome the healthcare challenges facing the CNMI. The KCHC board and staff look forward to expanding services over the coming months including the addition of mental health and substance abuse services, increased coverage for indigent care, and introduction of telehealth services for veterans. KCHC strives to maintain the personalized high quality carewhich has become its trademark while continuing to operate as a Nationally Recognized Patient Centered Medical Home. (PR)
