STUCO leaders to host summit
Student council leaders of each high school in the Commonwealth will host the first student-organized youth summit this April.
According to Tinian Jr./Sr. High School Student Council president Mariah Cruz, she and her team of 15 other STUCO leaders from various high schools in the Commonwealth are putting the final touches on their first youth summit.
Cruz said at the Board of Education meeting Wednesday that the summit will touch on most of the issues that the youth of the Marianas face today like alcohol, bullying, self-harm, smoking, and sexual education.
Cruz believes that the summit is important to strengthen and empower the teens of today and to also educate them on how they can handle certain situations. The theme will be “SEE Yourself: Strengthen. Educate. Empower.”
Cruz said that she and 15 other STUCO leaders will be heading to Guam today for a two-day conference called “Youth for Youth,” where they hope to learn from and replicate so that they can bring it back to the Marianas for the youth who cannot attend the conference.
The SEE Yourself summit will be on April 2 at the Saipan World Resort, from 9am to 3pm.
