ROTA—The Rota Department of Public Safety promoted six police officers during a ceremony attended by the island’s officials last Friday.

Rota Mayor Efrain Atalig said he is looking forward to seeing more officers get promoted in the future.

Pete Manglona was promoted from lieutenant to captain, while Sgt. Jonathan Garces is now a lieutenant. Police officers 3 Perry K. Mesngon and Tito S. Hocog II are now sergeants, while police officers 1 Joseph Q. Camacho and Elton Barcinas now have the rank of police officers 2.

One of those promoted said his new rank was much awaited.

“I was excited to get promoted, and I want to work with others with my new rank and be of assistance for the officers below who are in need of my help,” said the official who requested that he not be named.

Rep. Glenn Maratita (R-Rota) said he is working on providing funds in support of DPS Rota operations.

Among those who joined the celebration were Rota DPS director Eusebio Manglona, current and retired police officers, DPS Rota staff, some members of the municipal council and the island’s Cabinet members and their representatives. (Va’ina Lizama)
