Thank you
For the longest time, the residents of As Mahetok, in Precinct 4, have been complaining about the lack of streetlights in their area. In August 2017, their streetlights concern was brough to my attention. The request to have streetlights was accomplished through my appropriation bill, H.L.B. 20-43, that was signed into law by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres on Dec. 20, 2017. The bill appropriated $18,000 to have six power poles and streetlights in the area.
On Feb. 23, 2018, the Commonwealth Utilites Corp. started the project in Precinct 4, at the As Mahetok area. The power poles are being erected for the placement of streetlights. The residents’ safety has been addressed and can now feel content at night.
I want to extend my heartfelt sincere appreciation and thank you to Department of Public Works Technical Services director Anthony Camacho, CUC executive director Gary Camacho and his linemen crew, to my colleagues who supported my bill, and most especially to Gov. Torres for his immediate action in signing H.L.B. 20-43 into law, which became Saipan Local Law 20-17.
Rep. Alice Igitol
