Let us stop corruption in government!

In my last letter to the editor titled “My prediction,” I promised readers that I will share some hard facts where hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, of our CNMI taxpayer money is being paid out without proper and necessary documentation.

One discovery is the selective payment of land compensation. Don’t get me wrong. I am wholeheartedly in support for all landowners to be justly compensated for their lands taken by our government for public purposes pursuant to our Constitution and laws. They deserve to be paid 100 percent of their claims! The NMI Administrative Code specifically established the land compensation claims rules and regulations for the processing of claims and methods of disbursement of monetary compensation. Eulogio Inos failed to ensure that these rules and regulations are adhered to under his watch!

In one of my discoveries, an elderly landowner was deceived for political gamesmanship whereby in March 2009, the then Secretary of Finance, Eulogio Inos, ordered the release of payment, some hundreds of thousands of dollars, for land compensation settlement without ensuring that all proper and required documentations are in place. In March 2009 he stated that “details regarding this claim and settlement are on file with the Department of Public Lands.” He lied! There isn’t any settlement agreement on file. On April 2009, Eulogio Inos was elevated to the position of lieutenant governor. Almost three years later, on Jan. 10, 2012, DPL tried to cover up Eulogio Inos’ mistake by attempting to make the elderly landowner sign a settlement agreement that would have cheated the elderly landowner from getting full land compensation. To this day, no settlement agreement has been signed by the elderly landowner, his full compensation has not been paid, and but for my discovery, hundreds of thousands of dollars are out the door and no one will ever know except Eulogio Inos and those who tried to cover it up. That’s “IT”! How many more taxpayer dollars are being funneled through the back door under Eulogio Inos’ watch? Can you guess?

This year 2014 is another general election. Eulogio Inos should do the right thing and compensate the landowners whose lands have been taken, but he must not do “IT” again for his political gamesmanship!

For “Miniakis” who will forever be a naysayer and a pessimist who continues to hide behind a computer, my magic rubber ball predicts that you will continue to spill your pessimistic attitude and hatred toward Jesus, no matter what. Therefore, I suggest you drink some more milk.
