AJ Lizama, five others lead SBL in batting
The Chalan Kanoa Bears’ A.J. Lizama and five other players led in batting after the first full week of the 2018 Saipan Baseball League season.
While all five batters are currently perfect at the plate, Lizama’s 5-for-5 topped the list. His cousin and teammate Kiku Lizama, Donald Manalo, another Bears player were 2-for-2. Gerald Cabrera of the Titanium, Perry Celis of the Indians, and Virgil Secharmidal of the Blue Jays also went 2-for-2.
The Bears’ Angel Palacios (.800), Peter Lieto of the Falcons (.750), and GSM’s Franco Nakamura and Jerome Delos Santos, Henry Lizama of the Bears, and the Outlaws’ T.J. Dela Cruz complete the batting leaders with the last four having .667 averages.
GSM’s Lorenzo Sebaklim is the current runs scoring leader with seven, followed by Nakamura’s six and five each of Delos Santos, Bradley Lieto, Byron Kaipat, and Peter Lieto. Delos Santos also had two doubles, while Manalo, Angel Falig, Mario Salas, Roy Celis, and Tony Deleon Guerrero made one apiece.
Kier Agda had already hit two triples for the 1-1 Blue Jays to lead the category, while Sebaklim, Kolby Kaipat, Kyle Foreman, and J.J. Lifoifoi had one each.
Nakamura then led the league this early in RBIs with his five, while Delos Santos, Angel Palacios, and Bradley Lieto had four apiece. Foreman, Ian Norita, and Mark Toves had three each.
Bill Camacho (Titanium), Dennis Cabrera (Outlaws), Frankie Norita (Blue Jays), Kevin Kapileo (G.S.M.), Jose Lizama (C.K. Bears), Noel Cabrera (Blue Jays), Peter Lieto (Falcons), and Ray Dela Cruz (C.K. Bears) are tied in pitching with 0.00 ERAs based on two or more innings pitched.
Dung Tenorio of the Aces posted a 1.40 ERA, while McGregory Camacho of the Outlaws had 1.71 to complete the Top 10.
The GSM’s Kapileo had 13 strikeouts for the lead and was followed by Cabrera of the Blue Jays with eight.Frankie Lieto and Peter Lieto had five each. Adolpho Roppul had four, while Nokki Saralu, Nathan Guerrero, Bill Camacho, and J.J. Lifoifoi had three apiece.
