2 arrested in separate domestic violence incidents
Two men were arrested in separate domestic violence incidents on Saipan last Saturday and Monday.
Nathan Mario Aguon Roppul, 28, was apprehended for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Gregory Vincent Cabrera Cing, 35, was arrested for two counts of assault and battery and one count of child abuse.
Police said that Roppul’s wife was crying and feared for her and her child’s life as her husband has two previous cases of domestic violence and is still on probation.
In Cing’s case, a responding police officer said that the wife and her 9-year-old daughter were seen crying while walking away from their house.
At hearings last Tuesday before Superior Court associate judges Teresa Kim-Tenorio and Joseph N. Camacho, a $10,000 cash bail was imposed on Roppul, while Cing was allowed to post a $1,000 cash bail and $9,000 unsecured bond.
In Roppul’s case, police responded to a home in Gualo Rai last Saturday at 10:28pm after receiving a call from a woman who reported that her husband beat her up. The alleged victim told police that Roppul got angry after she called her mother to babysit her 8-month-old child. Roppul allegedly kicked her thrice in the stomach and slammed a car door twice against her back.
In Cing’s case, a 9-year-old girl called the police last Monday at 12:19am at her mother’s instruction because of the beating.
The wife told police that she and Cing were arguing about the domestic violence complaint she had previously filed that led to Cing’s arrest.
Cing told her to leave the house with their daughter. As the wife was leaving, Cing pushed her, causing her to fall. Cing then allegedly grabbed her left leg and twisted it. She instructed their daughter to call the police. He then allegedly kicked her on the left inner thigh.
Upon the police’s arrival, Cing threatened to jump from the house’s second-floor balcony if the officers do not leave. After several hours, police arrested Cing at 3am.
Last Feb. 12 at 12:22am, police officers were also dispatched to a reported domestic violence involving Cing.
