Ex-Tinian mayor’s employee gets 15-day prison term
A former employee of the Tinian Mayor’s Office facing charges of domestic violence, threats to kill police officers, and spitting on a police officer, has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 days in prison.
Eugene Atalig San Nicolas Jr., 23, pleaded guilty to assault and battery.
At a hearing on Tinian last week, Superior Court Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja sentenced San Nicolas to one year, all suspended except for 15 days.
San Nicolas was given credit for nine days of time already served. He will serve the remaining six days starting last Friday. It means he will get out of jail this Thursday, Feb. 22, at 4:30pm.
Naraja placed San Nicolas on supervised probation for a year, ordered him to pay a $500 fine, $25 in court assessment fee, plus probation fee. He was required to perform 75 hours of community service and complete counseling.

The remaining charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and fleeing a police officer were dropped.
Police stated that San Nicolas banged the victim’s head against the door, threw her on the bed, slapped her face, pulled her hair, and dragged her out of the room during their argument.
The victim tried to get her children, but San Nicolas pushed her out and left.
When the police later came, San Nicolas came on a scooter, stopped in front of the apartment, yelled profanities at two police officers, showed them his middle finger, and sped away.
When a police officer told him he would be arrested for domestic violence, he shouted profanities at the officers and sped away.
San Nicolas later went back to his apartment, where he locked himself. Two police officers responded again, but the defendant refused to come out and threatened he would shoot them with his gun.
The officers barged inside the room and arrested San Nicolas, who allegedly resisted and challenged the officers to a fight.
On the way to the police station inside a patrol car, San Nicolas allegedly spat twice on the face of one officer and threatened he would shoot them.
