Learn about responsible off-roading with UOG

The University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability will facilitate a roundtable discussion aimed at developing guidelines for responsible off-roading.

Cars Plus, Cycles Plus, and Let’s Ride Guam are leading the development of the guidelines as a joint corporate social responsibility initiative.

Reckless off-roading, wildland fires, and improper construction are poor land-use practices that accelerate land erosion. Eroded soil is washed downstream during rain events where it eventually enters the ocean, smothering and killing precious coral reefs.

The University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability, Sea Grant, and Guam EPSCoR lead the Guam Restoration of Watersheds Initiative. The initiative develops tools to reduce land erosion and improve the health of watersheds and coral reefs.

Today, Feb. 15, UOG will host the public roundtable discussion at the UOG School of Business and Public Administration building room 235 from 4pm to 6pm.
