Frank “The Crank” Camacho is on island and held a special session on Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for 24 students at the TrenchTech Purebred Saipan Academy last Tuesday night.

TrenchTech Gym owner Cuki Alvarez said he and the other students were honored and privileged to learn from a veteran mixed martial arts and UFC fighter like Camacho.

“All of us, young and old, were treated to some advance but basic techniques. We also learned some reversals and sweeps from certain positions followed by some cool submission techniques,” said Alvarez.

“We had the privilege and honor to learn from a UFC fighter. He found the time to share his MMA knowledge to those who are interested practitioners of BJJ,” added Alvarez, who was in Camacho’s corner in two of his three UFC fights.

Camacho traces his roots at TrenchTech with Alvarez and coach Tetsuji Kato introducing him to BJJ and the world of MMA. He holds a 21-6 fight record, 1-2 in UFC, with 15 of his wins by way of knockout. He lost his latest UFC fight against Drew Dober (19-8, 4 KOs) in UFC on FOX 27: Jacare vs Brunson held last Jan. 27 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, two months after earning a historic win against Damien Brown of Australia (17-12, 3 KOs).

Camacho will be on Saipan for a week to also talk to Hopwood Middle School students in a special conference at the Saipan World Resort. After his stay here, he will return to Guam to begin training camp and prepare for a fourth UFC fight this summer.
