Learn about love traditions in Micronesia
MANGILAO, Guam—As part of the 50th anniversary for the Richard F. Taitano Micronesia Area Research Center, the University of Guam Endowment Foundation, MARC, and Bank of Guam presents “How To Say I Love You: Love Traditions in Micronesia” on Feb. 16 at the Guam Museum, starting at 6pm.
The event will highlight the region’s many different love traditions and ceremonial demonstrations, to include the Kantan Chamorita, mwar-mwar making and more.
The current exhibit, Treasures of FestPac, at the Guam Museum will also be open. Throughout the night, be serenaded by Andrew Gumataotao and Patrick Palomo.
There will be chesa, craft beer, and wine. And each guest will leave with tokens of love.
Tickets will cost $40 in advance purchases and $50 at the door. Tickets are sold at MARC, the UoG Endowment Foundation and online at www.supportuog.org.
Proceeds from this event will go toward special projects as identified in MARC’s strategic planning process that will benefit the local community and region. Please join us in the preservation of the indigenous cultures of Micronesia.
