Power outage on Feb. 10

Share

There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, from 7:30am to 12pm.

The purpose of the power interruption is to de-energize primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to replace four wooden power poles with concrete poles along As Gonno Road near the Coral Ocean Golf Resort.

The pole replacement task is part of an ongoing Hazard Mitigation Project aimed at strengthening the power distribution system with the replacement of 787 wooden poles with concrete poles. The goal of the project is to mitigate the power distribution system against typhoons and other environmental catastrophes that may seen when Typhoon Soudelor happened in 2015.

CUC has replaced 338 of 787 wooden poles. The remaining 449 wooden poles will be scheduled for replacement.

The Coral Ocean Golf Resort will be affected by Saturday’s power interruption but no water well will be affected.

No wastewater lift station will also be affected.

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas. For more information, contact the CUC Customer Call Center (664-4282) or monitor its Facebook page for the latest updates. (CUC)
