Volunteers take part in Read Aloud Day on Tinian

Tinian Elementary School recently had parents, community leaders, and teachers read to its students in celebration of the World Read Aloud Day.
Dr. Clare Camacho, a consultant with the Public School System and literacy coach assigned to Tinian, was on campus and read to TES students in Kindergarten up to the fourth grade.
One of TES’ own parent and teacher, Monica Sanchez, read to the 3B class. A parent and school counselor, Maryann Dela Cruz, read to the Grade 5A. Michelle Quichocho, an AmeriCorps student from Tinian Junior Senior High School, read to the 1B class. Rose Lyn Balagtas, another student from the Tinian Junior Senior High School’s co-op program, read to 3A. Dr. Rita Sablan, former education commissioner and literacy coach for Tinian Elementary School, was also on campus and read to grades 2A and 4A. Tinian High School teacher and parent, Regina Palacios, read for 1A while another Tinian High School teacher and parent, Frances Santos, read to 2B.
Tinian Elementary also had a surprise on World Read Aloud Day. Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) visited the Tinian campus and donated books for the school’s library.
“We extend our appreciation to the ELA committee for organizing the event and the parents and community for coming into our classroom to celebrate World Read Aloud Day with our children,” the school said in a statement. (PR)
