Sr. Isabel Seman is Night of the Knights awardee

Sr. Isabel Seman of the Mercedarian Mission of Berriz was honored last Saturday as an alumna of Mount Carmel School during the school’s 20th Night of Knights celebration at the Magellan Ballroom of the Pacific Islands Club in San Antonio.
Known more as Sister Isabel, Seman belongs to the Class 1963 and was part of the first batch of students when Mt. Carmel School opened on Saipan in 1952.
Seman is known an educational leader throughout Micronesia. She spent over a decade in Rome as the vicar general for the Mercedarian Sisters, which is considered the highest leadership position.
Her awarding is fitting as this year celebrates the 90th year that the Mercedarian Mission of Berriz sisters came to Saipan.
“I am very emotional, deeply grateful and proud to be a Mount Carmel alumna from first grade to 12th grade…I was born and raised on Saipan and I am deeply humbled by the people of Saipan and all who make Saipan their home. Your unfailing support and encouragement, care, and love have accompanied us and we are confident that we will go on beyond this 90 years,” she said.
“People of Saipan, this award is [for] you. …This year, the Catholic Schools’ Week theme is learn, serve, lead, succeed. …What better and more effective way to guide and challenge future generations to learn, serve, lead, and succeed than by sharing and passing on stories of heroism to your students, children and grandchildren,” she added.
MCS president Galvin Deleon Guerrero said that aside from the announcement of the Night of the Knights awardee, the night was the culminating event for Catholic’s School Week at Mount Carmel School.
The Best Class of 2018 award was given to Batch 1990, the Friend of the Alumni award went to Luis Camacho, the 2018 Legacy award went to Mary Soledad Camacho-Castro, and the Millennial Falcon Award went to Robert Bernard C. Travella.
