Saipan Soccer School’s 2018 Youth Futsal Tournament will kick off this Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex and will feature 14 teams spread into three divisions.

In the co-ed U12 age group, the participating squads are Betde, Tinsel Toes, Kanoa Ali’i, and CTSI Petmalu. The co-ed U15 division also has four teams in Marianas United Betde United, CNMI United, and Fake Madrid, while six squads are entered in the co-ed U18: Islanders FC, Bruv, Suplex City, ABCDE FC, La Fabrica, and CTSI Petmalu.

All the 14 teams will play in the opening day this weekend with Betde and CTSI Petmalu colliding in the first game in the co-ed U12 at 2pm. In the second match at 3pm, it will be Tinsel Toes versus Kanoa Ali’i. For the co-ed U15, the pairings are Marianas United against Fake Madrid at 4pm and Betde United opposite CNMI United at 5pm. In the co-ed U18 age group, the triple-header will start at 6pm with Islanders FC challenging CTSI Petmalu at 6pm. In the 7pm tiff, it will be Bruv against La Fabrica, while Suplex City and ABCDE FC will close out the opening day with their game at 8pm.

Matches in the futsal tournament will be played every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday and elimination and playoffs format will be announced later.

The tournament will be SSS’ first for the year and individual and team awards await the participants at the conclusion of the competition. Organizers will be giving away Golden Boot and Golden Glove awards (male and female) in each age group and Fair Play (teams) besides the first place and runner-up trophies.

“The tournament aims to provide players opportunities to enjoy competing in a co-ed setting, continue to spark interest in the game, and allow them to get a different feel of the match as it is played in an indoor pitch,” SSS’ Angie Ito said.
