Yap citizens invited to register for elections

CK diocese launches 5K walkathon
The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa is launching its new health ministry with a 5K walkathon on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018. This walkathon is envisioned to be an annual affair to kick off all physical activities lined up by its health and wellness program committee, including sports fest for the youth as well as various other activities. Free registration will begin at 6am at Kristo Rai parish parking lot and go time will be at 7am. For more information about this walkathon or how to volunteer, call 234-3000. (PR)
Road closure on Beach Road
There will be construction and road closures on the northbound lane of Beach Road in between Llat Street and Alas Street in Garapan beginning Jan. 29, 2018, through March 25, 2018. The road is expected to re-open on March 25, 2018. This will allow the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s contractor, RNV Construction, to perform renovations on a sewer lift station, S-10. Due to the closure of the northbound lane and for the safety of the community, motorists and large vehicles are advised to proceed with caution and take alternative routes when traveling through the area. Scheduled power outage on Jan. 27
There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, to allow the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to perform line clearing near the primary lines along Haiguas Ln. Chalan Piao. Areas to be affected include Kiya 2 (3” partial), affecting Chalan Piao (Haiguas Ln., Niyok Dr., Ramona Ln., and Teodoro Dr.). Military training
at Warning Area 517, FDM
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. military will also conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla today and tomorrow, Jan. 26 and 28, from 10am to 11:59pm.
It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
