UOG Press, MARC Publications seeking Guam history authors and manuscripts
The University of Guam Press at the Micronesian Area Research Center recognizes a great need for contemporary history books in Guam’s literary canon and is seeking Guam history authors and manuscripts.
UOG Press would like to establish a pool of writers and historians to author a comprehensive Guam history book and conduct a blind review of manuscripts, including book drafts; dissertations; collections of essays; historical fiction/creative non-fiction; graduate-level theses; etc. about Guam’s history to consider for publication
Research topics of interest include (but are no limited to):
• CHamoru people, culture, and language
• Gender and identity
• Changing family and social dynamics
• Traditional knowledge
• Indigenous practices
• Social, political and artistic movements
• CHamoru
• Cultural renaissance
• Self-determination and decolonization
• Colonization
• Militarization
• The government of Guam
• Leadership
• Public policy
• The economy
• Historical events
• Changing landscapes
• The communities of Guam
• Regional connections
• Immigration/emigration
If you are interested in helping to author a comprehensive Guam history book, send a cover letter that describes your research interests and previous work; résumé/curriculum vitae; and a 25-page writing sample focused on the history of Guam to uogpress@triton.uog.edu no later than Feb. 28, 2018.
