PDM cleanup yields 760 lbs of trash
PDM Promoters, Inc. did its first cleanup of the year last Saturday, with its volunteers collecting a total of 760 lbs of trash.
The non-profit organization’s 28 volunteers—22 Saipan Awaodori members and Kinpachi Restaurant staff led by Misako Kamata, PDM Promoters CEO and director—did the cleanup at Paseo de Marianas and the alleyways between Coral Tree Avenue, Beach Road, and American Memorial Park.
“PDM Promoters, Inc. is committed in organizing cleanup activities as it is our mission to clean, educate, and involve the local children through volunteerism,” said PDM Promoters monthly cleanup drive coordinator Sonia G. Siwa.
PDM Promoters’ cleanups are held every Saturday and are supported by the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality and the non-profit’s major sponsors, T-Galleria and TSL Foundation.
“We appreciate the help and monetary support of our two major sponsors as well as from BECQ and [the Division of Solid Waste Management] for waiving the fee for trash disposal,” said Siwa.
Siwa said T Galleria and TSL Foundation’s support enables them to have the cleaning materials needed on their cleanups. Kinpachi Restaurant provides the meal and snacks for the volunteers.
Volunteers of PDM Promoters will be at it again in February when it conducts its next monthly cleanup of 2018.
