Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres confirms that he and other members of the congressional working group led by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) are close to legislation that extends the CNMI-Only Transitional Worker program and provides for increased resources on U.S. workforce development.

The governor has indicated that he has been working closely over the last several weeks as a member of the group on provisions that he introduced with the Northern Marianas Business Alliance .

“We applaud Senator Murkowski for agreeing to take the lead in helping the CNMI and have welcomed with open arms the opportunity to work with her office and the other congressional office in crafting legislation that provides long-term benefits to the CNMI. We are very pleased that my colleagues in our working group are adding provisions I personally recommended with the NMBAC. As we continue to progress in our discussions, I will keep everyone informed as we move forward,” Torres said. (PR)
