The Saipan Chamber of Commerce is making ready for its signature fundraiser, the installation of new officers, which will happen on Jan. 27, 2018.

According to Chamber executive director Jill Arenovski, there will be a change of event title this year.

“We’re changing the name from ‘installation event’ to ‘Business Person of the Year gala’ in order to re-focus on the Business Person of the Year nominees and the announcement of the 2017 winner,” she said.

She assured though, that the installation of the Chamber’s board of directors will remain a very important part of the event.

“We want to start the new year on a positive note, with some fun and friendship and laughter,” she added.

Arenovski expects many prior Business Person of the Year recipients to attend.

“We loved having so many prior [award] recipients in attendance last year, and hope that more past honorees will join us this year,” she said.

The nominees for 2017 BPOY will be announced next week.

The Jan. 27 BPOY gala at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan will focus on these nominees, “and what they do for our community so that everyone can get to know them better,” she added.

Arenovski said the theme for the evening is “masquerade” and some masks will be available for the attendees to use as props in photo taking. Reservations are available by return email, or by calling the Chamber office at 234-7150.
