China’s “Travel with CEO” has produced two episodes on the Marianas following the television show’s filming in Saipan and Rota earlier in December.
“Travel with CEO” highlighted the first-ever Marianas International Film Festival and the annual Christmas in the Marianas during its filming, with the resulting episodes targeting highly educated upper and middle-class viewers.
“‘Travel with CEO’ has been working with the Marianas Visitors Authority since the first announcement of the Marianas International Film Festival to do a feature on the event and the destination in general. This is quite a compliment, as the production film has also filmed the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “In particular, show anchor Shi Wei reportedly had a great time on Rota with his local guides, learning to husk a coconut, weaving coconut fronds, and enjoying the water at Rota Swimming Hole. Our guides were able to show that for people living in busy and crowded cities, Rota is definitely a quick getaway worth taking.”
“Travel with CEO” is produced by Hu Jin Media and is a financial and travel reality show, which airs on YICAI Shanghai TV. Since its inception three years ago, the show has been to more than 50 countries and 100 destinations and has had more than 200 guests. At the China Radio and Television and New Media Innovation Forum presented by China Media Industry Association, “Travel with CEO” was awarded “Impact Chinese Media – Innovative Program” in 2015 and “Impact Chinese Media – Influential Program” in 2016. The estimated advertising exposure value for the Marianas from the show is $140,000.
Local eateries featured included Tony’s Seafood, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Kinpachi Restaurant, Rota BBQ Restaurant, Capricciosa’s, Hard Rock Café Saipan, and Sichuan Restaurant. Other sites and attractions filmed include various local beaches, Stars & Stripes dinner cruise, a UTV ride, SeaTouch marine encounter, a diving tour, Garapan Street Market, Songsong Village Lookout, Rota’s Japanese-era sugar mill and train, Rota’s West Harbor, Tweksberry Beach, and Senbon Yashi coconut plantation. The group lodged at Grandvrio Resort Saipan. (MVA)
