HAGATNA, Guam—For its 45th anniversary, Bank of Guam continues to give back to the community by making a special donation to 27 non-profits in celebration of partnerships in the region. The nonprofits are located in Guam, the CNMI, the Republic of Marshal Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, and San Francisco.

The presentation of these contributions to the Guam nonprofits, which were selected by the employees occurred last Dec. 15. They are: Guam Cancer Care, Erica’s House, Guam Homeless Coalition, Hunterspeaks, Foster Families Association of Guam, and Healing Hearts.

In the spirit of sustainability, the bank is also delivering a recycled, single folding (origami-style) card to its customers. The bank partnered with a Kosraen customer, Green Banana Paper, to produce re-useable, recycled banana paper sleeves, which are the wrap for its 45th anniversary notebook. For its partnership with Green Banana Paper, over 20 Kosraen artisans, subsistence farmers and their families were dedicated to the project. Additionally, recycled paper from the Bank of Guam Kosrae branch was contributed to produce the reuseable sleeve.

Interested parties can Green Banana Paper posted the project on its blog, www.greenbananapaper.com/bankofguam.

Lou A. Leon Guerrero, Bank of Guam president, chief executive officer, and board chair added, “We are so proud to partner with an island producer of environmentally respectful products, and to provide input on the design of those products. Additionally, in celebration of the season of giving, we appreciate all that our nonprofits do for our community, and are happy to give them this additional support for the heartful work they do.” (PR)
