GTC, Mt. Carmel deliver

Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School and Mt. Carmel School continued to have a strong showing in the boys division of the 2017 NMIFA Fall U11 Interscholastic Soccer League.
GTC, after losing to Mt. Carmel last Dec. 5, notched two straight wins, downing Koblerville Elementary School first last Dec. 7, 2-0, and then whipping Kagman Elementary School last Tuesday, 10-0, for a 3-0-1 win-draw-loss record. The Binadus were scheduled to close out their elimination round assignment yesterday with a game against Garapan Elementary School at the Hopwood Middle School Field.
Mt. Carmel, on the other hand, was unbeaten after four games, holding a 3-1-0 slate, pending its last game in the round-robin elimination yesterday against Koblerville. Besides their close win over GTC, the Knights prevailed over Kagman, 7-0 (Dec. 7 game) and versus WSR last Tuesday, 2-0. The defending champions drew Garapan in their season debut early this month.
With Mt. Carmel and GTC likely to finish in the Top 2, they are already assured of the semis berths and will be paired against lower-seeded teams (No. 3 and 4) in the Final Four round, which will be played on Dec. 19 at the Hopwood pitch.
Carvin Cruzat, Nolan Ngewakl, and Wataru Kadokura teamed up in GTC’s demolition of Kagman with the former scoring four goals. Ngewakl and Kadokura chipped in three goals each. Cruzat also knocked in the pair of goals in the Binadus’ victory over Koblerville last week.
In the Mt. Carmel-WSR tiff last Tuesday, Markus Toves drilled the two goals for the Knights and registered four in their lopsided win over Kagman.
In the girls division, WSR was on the winning end of its duel against Mt. Carmel, as the Kingfishers escaped with a 1-0 triumph.
Koblerville also had a close victory versus GTC last week, thanks to Tanaiya Willy’s goal in the first half.
