A “melodious underwater garden” is how Korean free divers and photographers are describing the popular dive site Coral Garden on Rota.
The 14-member team, led by Marianas tourism ambassador Jaehoon Lee, toured Rota and Saipan on Nov. 12-16, 2017.
The underwater photography project was “orchestrated” by the Marianas Visitors Authority to position the Marianas as an ideal destination for the water leisure activities, especially underwater.
“The professional free divers and photographers visited diving spots and attractions of the Marianas to experience both our breathtakingly beautiful underwater scenes and our welcoming and colorful indigenous cultures,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “I was told all the participants had great admiration for our uncontaminated ocean and wonderful natural tourist attractions.
“On Rota, the team had three full days to experience the Rota blue. The team was overpowered with the beauty of the underwater scene there. Some said they have never seen such stunning natural coral reefs and underwater creatures—like the Christmas Tree Worm—that Rota has.”
The group also visited Teteto Beach, Senborn Yashi, Songsong Village, Swimming Hole, and Songsong Lookout to explore the untouched natural beauty of Rota and learn about its history and culture. On Saipan, the divers and photographers visited Grotto, Laulau Beach, Obyan Beach and Naftan Point for underwater photography projects, along with visiting Ladder Beach, Forbidden Island, Banzai Cliff, Mt. Tapochau and Micro Beach to capture the beauty of Saipan’s land and sea.
On and offline underwater photo exhibition with Lee will be held on MVA’s social media channels and the public venue in Korea. The tour was also supported by Aqua Resort Club and Rota Resort & Country Club. (PR)
