OAG welcomes two new lawyers

The CNMI Office of the Attorney General announced yesterday the addition of two new assistant attorneys general, Robert “Charlie” Lee, who joins the Criminal Division, and Colby Stewart, who is based at the office’s Civil Division.
“We are excited to have Charlie and Colby on our team. With their legal experiences and knowledge, I am confident they will both be a valuable asset to the office and the CNMI community,” said Attorney General Edward Manibusan.
Lee has over 13 years as an experienced attorney with a main concentration on criminal prosecution. Throughout his years as an attorney serving both the public and private sector, his profession has taken him to areas in the Pacific where he practiced as an assistant attorney general for the Office of the Attorney General in American Samoa in 2009 to 2011 and, most recently, as an interim special prosecutor for the Republic of Palau Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Stewart, on the other hand, clerked for the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Municipality of Anchorage (Alaska), and served as the editor-in-chief of Animal Law Review. Following law school, Stewart moved to the Commonwealth to serve as a staff attorney at the Law Revision Commission, where he aided in the codification of statutes and regulations, edited and composed legal publications, presented professional development trainings, worked on court policies and procedures, and assisted the Judiciary’s general counsel on a wide-range of legal matters.
Lee earned his juris doctor from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama and obtained a bachelor of arts degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Central Florida. Lee was sworn in on Nov. 28, 2017, by Chief Justice Alexandro Castro.
Stewart earned both a J.D. and an LL.M. in Environmental, Natural Resource, and Energy Law at Lewis and Clark Law School and received a bachelor of arts, cum laude majoring in History and minoring in Philosophy. He is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth. (PR)
