Masters division most valuable player Gilbert Gatmaitan teamed up with Sally Aguon to rule the Saipan Electronic Darts Association Awards Banquet Tournament held last Sunday at the Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.

Gatmaitan and Aguon breezed through their opponents, winning all of their six games—including consecutive victories against Ben Aguon and Allan Delica.

They went home with $130 each, a trophy and two Bud Light beach chairs after beating Ben Aguon and Delica in the finals. Gatmaitan and Sally Aguon first met and beat their finals opponent in the semis, while Ben Aguon and Delica dropped to the losers bracket.

Ben Aguon and Delica then bested the pair of Jayson John and June Orencia in the losers bracket to earn another crack at Gatmaitan and Sally Aguon. The ending, however, was the same with Sally Aguon and Gatmaitan asserting their mastery over their semis opponents.

Gatmaitan and Sally Aguon opened up their title bid with a victory over the duo of James Tudela and Adelbert Lizama then followed it up with another win against the tandem of Jhun Lambon and Rick Jordan.

Their winning streak continued in the third round as they dispatched the pair of Jess Villar and Chris Omnes. The eventual champions then earned a semis berth after disposing of Jayson John and June Orencia.

The Ben Aguon-Delica partnership, on the other hand, defeated the pairs of Nestor Abing and Lois Blaluk, Gaius Gille and Uly Morales, Warlee Ellama and Peter Igisomar, and Rolly Bermiso and Arman Mendoza before losing to Gatmaitan and Sally Aguon.

John and Orencia, in the loser’s bracket, bested the pair of Alfred Hocog and Rod Pergil then eliminated Sam Fabito and Sid Camacho, but their finals hopes were ended by Ben Aguon and Delica in Round 8.

Richard Santos and Hank Magofna, Bobby De Leon and Ton Casil, K.J. VIllagomez, and Frances Magofna, Patrick Rotap and Manuel Castro, Romuel Chavez and Ray Cepeda, Erwin Clavecillas, Adrian Montalbo and Joe Esteves; Greg Sasamoto and Derick Magofna, Pam Ybanez and Elowena Camacho, Carter Calma and J.R. Vito, Jose Orosco and George Medina, Boy Sadiri and Reina Raftang, and Luis Ramos and Larry Achas were the other pairs that competed, but were eliminated early.

Meanwhile, team sponsor 6JMS went home with a total of 12 trophies after the awarding as it won three Bud Light Cup division titles—A, Chichirika, and Fanihi—and also topped the Masters and Fanihi categories in the regular season. They added two runner-up finishes and four third place trophies.

The Venue had six trophies—two Bud Light crowns and one regular season title with two second and one third place awards. Nipa Hut, 9 Eleven, and Jonny’s had three awards each, while Naked Fish and Oleai Beach Bar went home with two trophies apiece.

The Beach Flukers placed third in the Chichirika division, while Franken Brau, Naked Fish, The Venue, and VFW each claimed two sportsmanship awards.
