CHCC pediatric ward accepts donations
The pediatric ward of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. received books and toys last week as donation for the infants and children currently admitted at the hospital.
According to Hospital and Dialysis administrator Jesse Tudela, the donation came from George and Terry Camacho of Taga Riders Forever Motorcycle Club. They currently reside in Salem, Oregon.
“Three months ago, they gave me a call and said that they wanted to send out stuffed animals and books for our pediatric patients as their donation for the holiday season. They said they will be sending four boxes (two boxes of books and two boxes stuffed animals). We received two boxes and two more are on the way,” he said.
“These gifts of books and toys can make a big difference to children and families spending time in the hospital. I know it will lift the spirits of the pediatric patients currently admitted. Right now, there are three children and any new admission from today, we will give out all the toys and books that the Camachos have shipped over,” Tudela added.
Tudela said that CHCC is able to ensure that every child receive an extraordinary level of care due to these acts of kindness by donors like the Camachos and Taga Riders Forever.
“This is just in time for the holiday season. This is a message that no one is alone. It may appear like that but donations coming from all over the world shows the kind of hearts we have, hearts that are always ready to help out each other,” Tudela said.
“We welcome donations at the hospital whether big or small. The thought really counts regardless of value and we appreciate the commitment of the community to help each other out because we are building a community of grateful families,” he added.
