A Corrections officer was arrested for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at a person. Separately, a man was arrested for allegedly pointing a rifle at a customer of a store. The incidents occurred on Saipan last Wednesday and last weekend.

Sources said a female Corrections officer was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly threatening someone with a loaded gun in Koblerville last Wednesday night.

Sources said no formal charges have been filed yet against the officer and that the matter has been assigned to the Department of Public Safety’s misdemeanor case unit.

In the second case, sources said, a man pointed a gun at a Bangladeshi man outside the LM Market in Chalan Kanoa last Saturday and demanded for his cell phone.

Sources said the victim was not injured as he managed to escape.

The suspect fled on a vehicle, but police located and arrested him at his residence in Chalan Kanoa.

The suspect is expected to be taken to the Superior Court for bail hearing today, Monday, for attempted robbery and other charges.
