Probable cause is found vs man accused of dousing gas on his GF
Probable cause was found yesterday to charge a 23-year-old man of pouring gasoline on his girlfriend and setting fire to their house.
At a preliminary hearing, the court found it probable that John Piteg Teregeyo may have committed the crimes of attempted first-degree murder, arson, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace—all related to domestic violence.
Assistant attorneys general Teri Tenorio and Frances Demapan, counsel for the government, moved to dismiss one count of domestic violence: assault with a dangerous weapon. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig, counsel for Teregeyo, did not object.
Teregeyo will be arraigned on Nov. 6, 2017.
The alleged victim told police that she and Teregeyo were having an argument in the house’s bedroom when Teregeyo went outside, brought in a container filled with gasoline, and spilled it around the entrance of the bedroom, inside the bedroom, and on her body last Oct. 20.
She said Teregeyo also choked her and pushed her, causing her to fall. He then allegedly shoved a shirt in her mouth.
