Triple J Saipan Inc. turned over a donation totaling $5,500 to two community organizations last Friday for their community operations on Saipan.

Led by Triple J Enterprises Inc. chief executive officer Robert H. Jones, the company donated $5,000 to the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter and $500 to the Ayuda Network.

“We always feel that we must give back,” said Jones. “We must put more in the pot than we take out so that we leave some for the less fortunate.”

Jones expressed appreciation for the many charities throughout Micronesia. “We appreciate the work that all of you do for various causes that you have and we want to help out in any way we can,” he said.

According to ARC-NMI Chapter executive director John Hirsh, the donation would be used for the chapter’s various operations.

“These are resources that we use to basically provide services here in the Commonwealth for the Red Cross, whether it’s a single-family fire; to teach a first-aid class, or to ready our volunteers for a major typhoon or event that is expected to happen,” he said, adding that the chapter even deploys volunteers to disasters in the U.S. mainland such as the recent string of typhoons and California wildfires.

Special assistant for Youth Affairs Shelane Borja, who received the donation on behalf of the Ayuda Network, cited a youth empowerment awareness booklet that the Ayuda Network is working on to “try and empower our students to be more involved and do more activities out there.”
