The Field of Heroes fundraiser netted over $13,000 that will go to local programs that specialize in assisting veterans, servicemen, and first responders.

At a luncheon hosted by the 2017 We Will Never Forget: Field of Heroes Organizing Committee over a week ago at Kanoa Resort, the Northern Marianas Humanities Council was presented with a total of $13,748.48 from the proceeds of the fundraiser.

The occasion was also intended to honor the event’s sponsors, partners, and committee members in recognition of their efforts to make the event possible. The Field of Heroes fundraiser was an initiative of TanHoldings’ charitable arm, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.

According to Carline Sablan, community relations director for TanHoldings and a member of the Field of Heroes Organizing Committee, the money handed over to the council would help fund existing programs that assist military service personnel, veterans, and first responders coping with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Council consultant Eulalia Arriola said the funds would sustain what’s referred to as Power Breath Meditation workshops on Saipan and bring it to Rota and Tinian.

The workshop was first offered in November last year and assists in decreasing stress, anxiety, anger, and sleep problems in veterans, servicemen, and first responders.
