Parks and Recreation director Eliceo Cabrera has been designated acting Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality administrator as of Sept. 30, 2017.

According to a memorandum signed by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, Cabrera is to temporarily fill the position until further notice.

Cabrera said he is still familiarizing himself with his new crew and the current standing of the bureau.

Cabrera took up office last Oct. 2 and, according to him, his new staff has welcomed him warmly.

According to Cabrera, he is no stranger to the general work done by the bureau because, after years at the Division of Parks and Recreation, he has collaborated with the bureau to conduct many island cleanups and other projects.

Cabrera is the second appointed acting BECQ administrator to replace former BECQ administrator Frank Rabauliman who resigned last Sept. 8 and after previously appointed Division of Environmental Quality director Ray Masga.
