Torres signs four Senate bills into law
On Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres signed into law:
Senate Bill 20-02, SD3, HD1, which establishes the Commonwealth Office of Planning and Development under the Office of the Governor. Authored by Senate President Arnold I. Palacios, this bill becomes Public Law 20-20.
Senate Bill 20-45, HD2, which provides a limited exemption to register a right-hand drive vehicle after it is converted to left-hand drive and passes safety inspection. Authored by Sen. Justo S. Quitugua, this bill becomes Public Law 20-21.
Senate Bill 20-41, SD1, which establishes the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, replaces the Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act of 1968, and brings the CNMI into compliance with federal child support requirements and assists the CNMI better serve children and families in establishing and enforcing child support when one parent resides outside the CNMI. Offered by Senate President Arnold I. Palacios, this bill becomes Public Law 20-22.
Senate Bill 20-03, SS1, HD1, which limits the public high school student representative to the CNMI Board of Education to a one-year, rotational appointment by public high school. Authored by Sen. Justo S. Quitugua, this bill becomes Public Law 20-23. (PR)
