Matson extends scholarship deadline for NMC students
Northern Marianas College has announced that the deadline for submitting applications for the Matson Navigation Company Scholarship has been extended to Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, by 4pm at the Financial Aid Office.
The Matson Scholarship awards one $500 scholarship each to three deserving full-time NMC students pursuing either a bachelor’s degree in business management or an associate degree in accounting during the 2017-2018 school year.
The scholarships are based on merit and will be awarded to the recipient on the basis of the candidate’s community involvement, academic background, and letters of recommendation. The essay and interview (if necessary) will also play a key role in the final selection of scholarship recipients.
This 2017-2018 school year will be the second year the Matson Navigation Scholarship has offered its the scholarship awards to Northern Marianas College in assisting students with financial aid.
The company’s contribution to NMC students is part of its ongoing mission to help communities by providing funds, material goods, or services to help improve the quality of life where their own employees live and work.
“We are grateful for Matson’s commitment to our students and their educational journeys,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “The scholarship goes a long way in helping students pay for critical educational expenses.”
