White Haus outclassed Green Minded, 91-85, in final game in the 2nd Ali’i Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

The win was first for White Haus, which denied Green Minded its third straight victory. Five White Haus players scored at least 12 points in the triumph to negate the 31-point explosion of Ivan Devero for Green Minded.

Nate Mateo tallied 20 points, 11 of them came in the fourth quarter, as his baskets helped White Haus keep its distance against Green Minded. R.J. Nonato contributed 19, Jun Tabora chipped in 14, and Dan Hernandez and Darwin Barbo added 13 and 12, respectively. Mark Cando had 8 points, logging the last 4 for the winning squad.

White Haus needed to spread the wealth in the fourth quarter, as they entered the final frame clinging to a 66-64 lead. In contrast, Green Minded had only Devero and Leo Itaas making more than two field goals in the fourth period, as their team absorbed its first loss in three games.

Meanwhile, Silencer spoiled White Haus’ bid for back-to-back wins after posting an 84-72 victory in the second game last Sunday.

Silencer fired up the hoops in the second half to turn a close game to a double-digit winning margin. Silencer was ahead by only 2 at the break, 45-43, when Kelvin Fitial and Angelo Fernando teamed up in the third-quarter assault to increase the advantage to as much as 13, 61-48.

Fernando finished with 28 poiints, while Fitial added 25 to lift Silencer to a 2-1 record. Nonato led White Haus with his 19 markers.
