Public Safety Commissioner Robert A. Guerrero has promoted over 90 police personnel on Saipan, including nine police captains from the rank of lieutenant.

Guerrero disclosed Friday that Gov. Ralph DLG Torres supported the promotions with corresponding salary increases.

A few years ago, several police officers were promoted but their salaries were not adjusted due to the lack of a budget.

“About 90 percent got promoted,” the commissioner said, adding that those promoted were for the ranks of police officer 2 and as high as captains.

He cited that police sergeants Jason Tarkong, Jeffrey Olopai, and Simon Manacop, who were all promoted last year, were among the nine promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Promoted to captain were Anthony Macaranas, Bernard Santos, Jerry Ayuyu, Ben Sablan, Joe Saures, Tom Blas, Paul Ogumoro, Joaquin Camacho, and Kevin Aldan.

Assistant chief Aniceto Ogumoro is the chief of police operations.

DPS Saipan currently has 150 police officers.
