Players interested in competing in the 2nd Invitational IT&E/Blue Haus Friendly Basketball League are asked to sign up at the Navy Hill court this weekend. Registration time starts at 5pm today and 4:30pm this Saturday and Sunday. Sign up fees are only $20 per player, inclusive of uniforms (top only).

All registered players will be put in a pool and league committee members and officials will select the players for each team. Newcomers and veteran players will be distributed evenly to the participating squads to ensure balance of competition in the league and give those who have limited opportunities to see action in other tournaments a chance to play.

Organizers are looking to have 10 teams for this year’s tournament, while they are eyeing to have the matches at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium of the TSL Sports Complex and open the league either second or third week of this month. Games will be played twice a week, tentatively on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Matches schedule will be finalized along with the league format once the teams are formed.

In 2015, the league drew nine teams with Red Rice taking the inaugural championship after pulling off a 94-91 victory over Makalaro Lang in a thrilling winner-take-all finale. Oh My J, Mamba, Pasion De Amor, Hard Kulangot, Purple Rain, Kidlat, and Eh Di Wow were the other participants in the first edition of the league. Red Rice’s Angelo Fernando and Makalaro Lang’s Ivan Devero were named Finals and regular season MVPs, respectively.
