The Marianas Tourism Education Council will be the beneficiary for the upcoming Governor’s Tourism Cup Golf Tournament. The tournament date is set for Saturday, Sept. 2, at the scenic Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s east course with a tee time set at 7:30am.

This is the second year the Marianas Visitors Authority will host the tournament.

“With tourism headed in a positive direction, we must continue to reinforce the importance of our tourism industry to all, but most especially the generations that follow. It is vital that businesses support MTEC in its mission of developing tourism related programs for our high school students,” said MTEC chair Victoria Benavente.

Major Sponsors Bank of Guam, Bridge Capital, Hyatt Regency Saipan, IT&E, DFS T-Galleria, and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation have all stepped forward with their support this year.

Joeten Enterprises, Pacific Islands Club, Best Sunshine, Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, Saipan Tribune, Marianas Variety, and the Sorensen Media Group-Power 99 lend their support as Classic Sponsors.

Hole-In-One Sponsors Joeten Motor Company, Pacifica Insurance, AK Toyota, and Triple J Motors have put forth fantastic prizes of cash and cars.

First Hawaiian Bank, PHI Pharmacy, Island Training Solutions, IP&E, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Marianas Resort & Spa, MarPac, and Pacific Trading Co. have come on board as Classic Contributors.

Tournament director James Nelson said, “We must continue to support MTEC as they have a direct impact on our tourism industry and the student community.”

This year’s entry fee is $100 and includes cart and green fees, morning snacks, free-flowing on-course refreshments, and awards banquet. Participants can also look forward to the nearest to the pin and longest drive competitions, as well as the ever popular hot-dog stand out on the course.

Entry forms are available and payments accepted at the Marianas Visitors Authority and Laolao Bay Golf & Resort. Golfers are encouraged to enter as soon as possible as player slots are filling up fast and only 144 golfers can be accommodated. (PR)
