WCC chief to speak at SHRM meeting
Francisco Diaz Cabrera, director of the CNMI Office of the Workers’ Compensation Commission, will be the main speaker at the Aug. 31, 2017, meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter.
He will discuss the CNMI’s Workers’ Compensation Program for SHRM members. Cabrera has been with the program since 1998 and has been its director since 2006. He is responsible for the daily operations and activities of the WCC branch offices on the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Cabrera has also been designated as the project director for the Department of Commerce’s “one-stop” processing center, which includes the licensing offices of Alcohol and Tobacco, Weights & Measure, Taxicabs, Banking, and Insurance, the Registrar of Corporations, and WCC.
As director of WCC, Cabrera conducts mediation meetings and status conferences for disputes arising between employees, employers, and insurance companies to arrive at the final determination of a claim. He will discuss this mediation process, the areas of employee and employer compliance with the requirements of the WCC program, as well as explaining what the program is and how it works.
This lunch meeting will be held at the Pacific Islands Club Charley’s Cabaret on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
The presentation is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers, managers, and HR professionals and staff to learn more about WCC. Cabrera will provide an opportunity for questions.
The presentation includes the PIC lunch buffet at the cost of $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-members. Seats are limited, so reserve your seat by contacting Penny Jones by e-mail at penelope.jones@hyatt.com or Denise Montenegro at denise.montenegro@hyatt.com or by telephone at 323-5867/68.
