Senate OK’s Holly nomination to CUC board

The Senate approved last week Matthew Holly’s nomination to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board, inching closer to the board’s revival.

According to Holly, CUC is still faced with “many challenges” but the corporation has “plans already in place.”

“… We still have a ways to go,” said Holly in an interview.

He cited the 58-percent non-revenue water loss caused by leaks. He said there has been “some improvement” on the matter.

“We need to continue in that front and see where we are falling short,” he said, adding that restoring public trust and practicing transparency remains his priorities.

Holly joins both Weston Deleon Guerrero, whose nomination the Senate approved at an earlier date, and Commonwealth Development Authority’s Ignacio Perez on the CUC board.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres last Aug. 10, 2017, nominated Miranda V. Manglona and Jovita Paulino to the CUC board, representing Rota and Tinian, respectively.

The Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations has yet to hold public hearings on the two nominations.
