Paire, Shirley’s prep up for Fall season

Pair Football Club has added a venue for its training sessions to reach out to Kagman residents, while Shirley’s Football Club is also busy getting ready for the 2017 NMIFA Youth Fall League.

Paire official Derek Chambers said the group’s boys U14 and girls U15 teams will be practicing at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School this season.

“Middle school kids residing in Kagman and interested in playing soccer may join Paire FC,” Chambers said.

For elementary school children or those in the five to 12 age group, Paire hopes to see Dandan San Vicente, and Papago residents register with the club and play in the fall season of the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association-organized league that will start on Sept. 16. To get a better idea about Paire FC and its teams, interested residents in the villages mentioned above can check the group’s training sessions from 5pm to 6pm at the Dandan Middle School Field. Training days for specific age groups (from U6 to U12) at the Dandan pitch will be posted at the club’s Facebook page (Paire Football Club) and website www.PaireFootballClub.org. Paire also has a U17 team and Chambers said the squad is likely to practice at the Hopwood Middle School. Students from other villages are also welcome to stop by and watch the club’s training sessions.

“Last season, Paire had under 100 players on our youth rosters combined. We have co-ed teams in U6, U8, U10, U12 division B, and U12 division A, and boys U14 and U17 and girls U15. We have one coach for each team. Paire’s strength is in youth development. Paire emphasizes equal playing time in the games for all players in the U6 to U12 age groups. We want all the kids to have fun,” Chambers said.

For Shirley’s FC, players registration form can be picked up at Shirley’s Coffee Shop in Susupe and Garapan. Each filled-out registration forms should be accompanied with a copy of the player’s birth certificate or passport.

Players who will become members of the club or are interested to know more about Shirley’s FC could check the group’s training sessions at the Oleai Elementary School Field. Since the Oleai pitch is home to Shirley’s FC, its students, along with those residing in San Jose, Chalan Kiya, and other nearby villages are encouraged to join the club.

“Schedule of practices and other club updates will be posted on our Facebook page fb.com/ShirleysFC,” club general secretary Noelle Macario said.

Macario added that so far they have around 50 players spread in the co-ed U6, U8, U10, and U12, boys U14, and girls U15 age groups. The different teams are handled by five coaches and five assistants, who will undergo a workshop on Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 in preparation for the fall youth league.
