The deadline to submit nominations for the 2017 Bridge of Light Award has been extended to 5pm on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017.

The Bridge of Light Award is given each year by the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence to honor the accomplishments and sacrifices of one extraordinary individual. An individual NMCADSV wishes to recognize for their work to provide safety for the community, end domestic violence and sexual assault, and to be a “Bridge of Light” for victims and survivors in the CNMI.

Nominations may be submitted by a member, representative, and/or volunteer of NMCADSV and/or the Family Violence Task Force; a victim or survivor; or an employee, representative, and/or volunteer at eligible CNMI agencies, organizations, or offices. To verify if an agency, organization, or office is eligible to nominate, contact NMCADSV at (670) 234-3878 or email Angelyn N. Palacios at angelyn@endviolencenmi.org.

Moreover, the nominee may be a service provider, representative, or volunteer at one or more eligible agencies, organizations or offices in the CNMI, and who has been there for a minimum of one year. The nominee must also show dedication and effort in the areas of leadership, service, advocacy for victims, prevention, community education or mobilization, and resource development.

Nominations may be submitted online through https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MND6K5H. Nomination forms are also available for pick-up and submission at the NMCADSV Office in Springs Plaza in Gualo Rai next to New XO Market, or may be emailed upon request through angelyn@endviolencenmi.org. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 9am to 3pm.

Note that nominees will be considered for the Bridge of Light Award based only on information reflected on the completed nomination form. Those who would like to nominate individuals for the Bridge of Light Award are strongly encouraged to submit detailed and thorough nominations.

The recipient of the Bridge of Light Award will be announced during the upcoming Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation signing in October.

Past awardees include Department of Public Safety officer Flora Aguon, Karidat Social Services executive director Lauri B. Ogumoro, Division of Youth Services social worker Mildred W. Sikebert, and Karidat Social Services counselor Elaine C. Dela Cruz.
